Summary
On a quiet summer day in the farmyard, the rooster Anastas is declaring his love to his hen Lyudmila. As a token of gratitude, she lays three beautiful white eggs. The soon-to-be parents are overjoyed and eagerly count the days and nights, waiting for their little chicks to hatch… And then the miracle happens — two small, lively, and curious chicks are born.
But one egg remains in the nest.
The rooster-father tries to break the shell, but his efforts end with a bent beak, and angry, he goes off to fix it. The other animals — the donkey, the goat, and the crow — also try to help the hen Lyudmila, but their attempts to crack the egg by force fail as well.
That night, left alone, Lyudmila hears the faint stirrings of life inside the little egg. Her heart turns into a beautiful butterfly, and warmed by her love, the tiny chick finally hatches.
When morning comes, the rooster Anastas returns with his straightened beak and wants to punish the third chick — but the little ones stand united and won’t reveal which one it is.
What matters is that they are all together — and together they sing the song of birth.
Soon, the entire farmyard joins in their song.
