Rehearsals Have Begun for the New Production for Adults “DREAM”

State Puppet Theatre – Stara Zagora has officially begun rehearsals for its newest production for adult audiences – “Dream”, based on an original idea and directed by Lyubomir Zhelev. This mystical, highly visual, and emotionally charged production delves into the world of dreams and the inner struggles we all face.
The performance explores questions such as:
– What are dreams, and can someone enter or even steal them?
– How do we create our own fears and limitations?
– And how can we overcome them?
The story features three main archetypes:
🔹 The Magician – a dream-maker and dream-hunter
🔹 The Witch – a personification of our hidden, unresolved fears
🔹 The Girl – a seemingly ordinary person, who holds knowledge of Bulgarian rituals, mythology, and ancient practices
The visual world of the stage will be built through rich symbolism, drawing from ancient Bulgarian, Viking, and Icelandic cultural layers. The production will also incorporate elements from Bulgarian folk tales, including the mythical Lamya and Zmey, exploring the distinctions between them as guardians of knowledge, sacred places, and secrets — both in the past and the present.
Music will be a key element in setting the atmosphere – a fusion of traditional Bulgarian sounds (cowbells, female choirs), classical instruments, and Viking-inspired soundscapes, evoking the icy spirit of Iceland.
