OPEN CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
State Puppet Theatre Stara Zagora and NGO "Pierrot" announce an open call for participation in the XIII Creative Laboratory "Without Roots", which will be held from July 21 to August 3, 2024 in the city of Stara Zagora.
Artistic directors will be Veselka Kuncheva, Marieta Golomehova and Milen Apostolov.
The theme of the upcoming creative lab is to explore the path of human uprooting. Its transformation into a free atom seeking its new place in the world. We live in a time of total repositioning of human layers. Wars, poverty, diseases, the collapse of humanity in individual human communities force Man to pull out his own roots and go into the unknown. I am talking about the problem of the waves of refugees flooding Europe. For the emigration of a huge part of the population, in search of personal self-realization. I am talking about the compulsion or our own choice to cut our roots. How is such a decision made? What are the consequences of this decision? What does a rootless person mean?
The following will be selected for participation:
- 3 teams of director and scenographer, selected by casting on developed projects on the theme "Without roots";
- 15 actors chosen by casting between drama and puppet actors, as well as students.
REQUIREMENTS FOR DIRECTORS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE "Without Roots" WORKSHOP:
- Short CV (up to 2 pages);
- Creative project (up to 2 pages), which should include:
· Idea and motivation;
· required number of actors;
· name of scenographer for the team;
· substantiated draft budget for materials up to BGN 2,000;
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ACTORS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE "Without Roots" WORKSHOP:
- Short CV (up to 2 pages);
- Photos - profile and full length.

The organizers provide accommodation for participants who are not from Stara Zagora.
