Stara Zagora Puppet Theatre received IKAR for "Lenchen's Secret" and a Special Award of the Ministry of Culture

Stara Zagora Puppet Theater received the IKAR National Award for the best puppet show for "The Secret of Lenchen" and a Special Award of the Ministry of Culture for high results achieved in theater management and creative activity. This is the second IKAR for the director Elitsa Petkova for a performance she puts on the stage of the Staro Zagora Puppet Theater. The team of the play also includes: translation Lilia Raicheva, scenography: Iva Gikova and Ivaylo Nikolov, music: Plamen Petkov and animation Teodor Kiryakov. Participants: Antonia Kundakova, Elitsa Mateva, Ivana Boboicheva, Iliyaz Ilyaz, Lyuben Chanev and Zlatina Karaeneva. Photographer is Alexander Bogdan Thompson.

Once again, Stara Zagora Puppet Theater was highly honored with the Special Award of the Ministry of Culture for high results achieved in theater management and creative activity. On World Theater Day - March 27, the Union of Artists in Bulgaria presented the IKAR National Performing Arts Awards at a solemn ceremony. According to tradition, the ceremony took place in the "Ivan Vazov" National Theater. The most prestigious awards for performing arts were handed out for the 50th anniversary and honored artists in 23 categories. Three special awards for teaching, for honor and dignity and for outstanding contribution were also awarded.

The AKT-UNIMA award for a significant contribution to the development of Bulgarian puppetry this year was presented by the chairman of the Association of Puppet Theaters and director of DKT Stara Zagora Darin Petkov. It was awarded to Prof. Vasil Rokomanov, who also received the honorary prize at the International Theater Festival "Piero" 2023.
